And apparently Jimmie has suffered massive brain damage from the brutal attack.

The News of Cumberland County

Bridgeton, NJ

1/2/12

Oh the agony of it all, the silly season. The silly season begins roughly when an election is near and progressives ratchet up their attacks on people who don't agree with them.

Their media allies inundate voters 24/7 with a barrage of lies, misinformation, disinformation, half-truths, progressive spin, ad hominem rhetoric and besmirching accusations.

This all in an effort to try and silence Tea Party patriots and other conservatives while enthusiastically espousing the principles and ideology of Antonio Gramsci, Saul Alinsky, George Soros, Bill Ayers and Karl H. Marx.

Organized thugs, rioters, mobs, violent demonstrators and unruly protesters are the action arms of the progressive agenda. Citing their First Amendment rights, they conveniently ignore that part of the amendment that says "the right of the people peaceably to assemble." With the blessings of some elected officials they destroy and damage public and private property, dishonor our military, disrespect business owners, create health issues and trash parks, streets and walkways.

During this silly season, progressives will try to achieve their interpretation of "change" through in-your-face tactics, rancorous intimidation, threats of violence, violation of rights of other Americans and disruption of businesses while attempting to instill fear in the general public. And the media will continue to give aid and comfort to these rioters and mobs with positive spin coverage while savaging anyone who disagrees with or criticizes them.

So as we enter this 2012 silly season, those of us who are not progressives will see the lies and misinformation from the left increase dramatically as we near November. We can also expect to see increased suggestive and actual bullying tactics from organized thugs and disrupters in an attempt to deny voters their First Amendment rights.

However, patriots and conservatives must continue to take the high road in the face of such attacks. It won't be easy, but the ace we have is the majority of the American people who don't like or agree with "thuggery" of any kind.

So it is imperative that we get this "ace" to the polls in November to prevent another four years of progressive power in Washington. The gauntlet has been thrown down, and we must pick it up.

Boulder: A Whole County Of Hypocrites

But is that news?

Boulder Daily Camera

Boulder, CO

12/22/11

I am an educated anti-GMO activist from Durango and have been following this story closely. I study GMOs on my own as a layperson because I think when this is said and done they will have turned out to be a huge environmental and health catastrophe.

Boulder just became a county of total hypocrites. Anyone with any knowledge knows that GMOs and conventional crops don't coexist. I love how Monsanto et al get their patents claiming these crops are "different," then market to the USDA and population that they are "substantially equivalent." GMOs cross-pollinate and contaminate everything and are creating rivers filled with Roundup and rains coming down with it, too.

There is no reason for GMOs to be planted on open space. Industry and lobbyists once again showed their ugly influence. What a terrible example the county commissioners are.

Our 1,00th letter!—Mama Espinosa's example of how to give to others lives on.

The Bandera Bulletin

Bandera, TX

12/13/11

I do not know for how many years El Jacalito's has provided a Thanksgiving Meal to locals for free but I know it has been a while. I also know that the event started with Susie Espinosa's mother Maggie, lovingly referred to by everyone as "Mama." I am writing this letter to say thank you to "Mama," although she is with the Lord, not just for starting the free Thanksgiving meal, but for raising such a fine family that works hard each year to continue the tradition. Susie, her family and their group of volunteers do such a wonderful job and this year I hear they fed well over 500 people. The count includes meals taken both to Cedar Creek Nursing Home, Bandera Rehabilitation Center and to the prisoners in our County Jail. Wow, they reach so many when you figure the population of the City is only 857.

My husband and I are lucky to have two wonderful family Thanksgiving Dinners to attend during the holiday season but we donate a turkey every year to Susie to help her with her cause. I just want Susie and her family to know that there are many Bandera County residents that appreciate what they do and that we thank them and love them for doing it. In my prayers, I thank God for people like "Mama" cause she raised a really good bunch of kids!

Liberals Are Warlords Stealing Your Freedoms

Which is one more reason we need Sir Newt to resuce us.

The Daily Reporter

Coldwater, MI

12/19/11

Fairness or freedom: President Obama says that government regulation is needed to guarantee equal opportunity. But, who decides what is fair?

For most of history warlords, czars and kings were sovereign over the land and the people who farmed it. In recent centuries revolutions have been fought to wrestle ownership from kings and to give power to the people; but, in fact, the politicians who control the government decide what is fair. Yet, in America, the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution recognized that "We the People" have a God given right to decide what we do with our property. However, in the last hundred years, liberal politicians have used health, safety and, now, fairness, as excuses to take decision-making from individual persons.

In the name of fairness, government has come to control 90 percent of all home, farm, factory, business and student loans; and, with passage of health, financial and food safety legislation, now controls health insurance, financial institution and food production. The next four years Barak Obama would have everyone paying for or dependent on government. Mitt Romney accepts the rationale for control and wants to manage government better. But, just changing politicians and policies is not enough; the politics and philosophy of governing has to change. Newt Gingrich reformed welfare, cut capital gains taxes and balanced the budget; and, he would transform government if he had the help of a conservative Congress and a vigilant citizenry.

Perhaps an ego diet is in order so we can get into our One World jeans.

The Olympian

Olympia, WA

12/20/11

In 1831, de Tocqueville wrote, "America is not good because it is great, America is great because it is good."

The Newt Gingrich creed of "American Exceptionalism" twists this truth, making American greatness an entitlement. Gingrich assumes that, as God's chosen people, our manifest destiny is world dominion.

But the self-insulating arrogance of this creed only makes us mediocre, isolating us from global dialogue. Inferior schools, collapsing infrastructure, exhausted soldiers, corporate serfdom, a growing gap between rich and poor, and a vulture economy that thrives on debt instead of creating real jobs or products, all belie imperial failure rather than greatness. Paralyzed by political corruption and insatiable consumerism, ours is the fate of all puffed-up oligarchies that live beyond their means on the sweat of Third World labor.

But this isn't the Apocalypse. It's only the collapse of empire, making way for a wiser, leaner lifestyle.

We are called not to restore our exceptionalism, but to restore exceptional rivers, forests, soil and skies. Not to rebuild corporate military power, but to rebuild community, and the covenant of care between our rich and poor. Not to conquer the planet, but to walk gently as guests of this land, trusting the sustainable wealth of the local and the small.

What is the greatest country? Earth. Who are the greatest people? Human beings. When Americans replace a sense of superiority with a celebration of one world family, we will be more joyful, more relaxed, and not so fat.

Man Divorces Bank, Loses Custody of CDs

Bank of all of America was unfaithful to him.

Christian Science Monitor

Boston, MA

12/19/11

Ben Von Klemperer's commentary, "My story of divorcing ... my bank" (Nov. 28), is a tale I can relate to.

Back in 1987 I met this wonderful bank. We were introduced through the American Society of Civil Engineers. She had a marvelous credit-card arrangement, and as the years passed our relationship blossomed with the addition of several CDs.

Then, in 2006, I got a notice that my friendly bank had been seduced by someone who wanted to become the bank of all of America. Only later did I discover that my infant CDs were sent somewhere in New Hampshire even though I was living in California.

Not only that, but my visitation rights were sharply curtailed since my local branch was on an entirely separate computer system from the one where my CDs were located and the computers were not allowed to talk to each other.

Now that the CDs have grown up and matured, the divorce papers have been finalized, and I have found a much more compatible banking partner.

Pakistanis Withdrawing From Pakistan

If you can't fix it, leave it; the Taliban will get it running.

Daily News

Lahore, Pakistan

12/20/11

These days a majority of the middle class parents are advising their children to 'leave Pakistan and never come back', thus leading to the massive brain-drain that this nation is experiencing. Those who are competent enough to achieve something on their own, despite the countless flaws in our educational and professional systems, prefer to leave their own country in search of the 'dreamland' rather than striving to make their own country a better place to live in.

The fear of living in Pakistan has led them to ignore all the drawbacks associated with living outside of it. The parents of girls prefer to look for boys settled abroad in order to decide their marriages and ask them if they would decide to return after leaving Pakistan — as if it is a sin to return to one's own homeland and people! I agree that problems like terrorism, inflation, lawlessness and corruption have made our country not a very ideal place to live in at the moment, but if the Pakistanis themselves — especially the youth — are afraid of confronting these problems by staying here, then who is going to make things right for us? John F Kennedy once said: "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." I think that we must all adopt this approach and contribute what we can, in our individual capacities, towards the betterment of Pakistan and those who live here.

Military Blows It On Drone Lost To Iran

Self-destruct mechanism not engaged for fear of injuring pilot.

The Queens Gazette

Queens, NY

12/21/11

A U.S. military drone was captured by Iran. It's completely intact, which means that all of its technology will be able to be studied and ultimately used by Iran.

The military is to blame, in part. They should've equipped the drone with an explosive that could have been detonated, either manually or automatically, in the event that it went down. That seems like something that could've been managed easily enough.

Drones are unmanned. So there would be no immediate concern for the safety of pilots in equipping the unmanned spy plane with an explosive. If that wasn't feasible for some reason, other options might have been employed.

The drone is one of the United States' most sophisticated means of surveillance. Now that technology is in enemy hands due to a lack of foresight as it seems.

Congress wants to downsize U.S. citizens' rights to a more managable Syrian level.

The Durango Herald

Durango, CO

12/20/11

he America we all believed in so worshipfully as school kids is changing rapidly for the worse. Both houses of Congress have passed legislation that will allow our government to arrest and jail U.S. citizens and others, indefinitely, and without the benefit of a trial of peers. If the U.S. government suspects that you are providing the least support for someone it deems a "terrorist," you will be jailed without a hearing and, possibly, without cause.

This is termed a "temporary" measure to be in effect until the open-ended War on Terror is completed. But this is no war in the usual sense of the word – it will never end as long as it is useful to those in power. Among other former citizens' rights, our government has used this "war" on terror to reduce our expectations of privacy in our private communications. Now that has expanded so it can arrest and imprison on a mere suspicion of wrong-doing.

I say that every senator and every representative who voted for this travesty should be removed from office immediately for violating their oaths of office. They swore to uphold the U.S. Constitution. With this proposed law, they have mangled it. For now, the president has promised to veto this hideous, anti-American legislation. That's good, but it's not enough. Only we citizens can put an end to this paranoia that threatens our democracy by responding with our brains and not our emotions. We should begin by electing representatives who believe in the strength of the institutions of our unique government. "Anti-government" elected officials are an idiocy that we can no longer afford.

Bin Laden and his ilk will have truly defeated us if we continue to abandon all of our principles in a pathetic scramble for "security."
